Venice - Italy

Hello to all my travel lovers out there, today I will be talking about one of the most romantic, beautiful and unforgettable cities in the world...

Venice, Italy

Venice, capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, is built on more than 100 small islands in a marshy lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. Its stone palaces seemingly rise out of the water. There are no cars or roadways, just canals and boats...

Venice is known to be one of the most romantic cities in the world, I mean how could it not be ? From the food, the architecture, atmosphere, the people, it all provides the perfect trip for any couple. Venice has been the chosen location for many couples, including celebrities for their wedding location and/or honeymoon. The purpose of this post is to provide a few idea's of what you could do in Venice with that special person to experience Venice and all it has to offer..

Top five activities to do/places to visit whilst in Venice

1. Couple Gandola

Grandola

No trip to Venice would be complete without a boat ride through the city’s scenic waterways in an renowned gondola.
Visit the Gondola Board; 041 528 5075 or www.gondolavenezia.it for recommended itineraries.
Prices below are for the hire of the gondola, for six passengers or less. Having your own personal crooner will push the fare up.
8am-7pm €80 for 30 mins. 7pm-8am €100 for 35 mins.

2. Take a Vaporetto for a Grand Canal Tour

Grand Canal - Venice

Of course the best way to take in all the beautiful sceneries Venice has to offer is on foot, however the Grand Canal only has a few bridge crossings and taking a ride on Venice’s water bus (vaporetto) is an exciting and convenient transport method !

For information on booking a vaporetto visit:

3. Visit St. Marks square

St. Marks Square - Venice

Piazza San Marco, or Saint Mark's Square, is the largest and most important square in Venice. For a very long time Piazza San Marco has long been a highly important meeting place for the citizens of Venice. If you are looking to best out of St.Mark's square, and make it extra special for you and your special partner, head over there at night. You will be in awe.

4. Tour the Doge's Palace

Doge's Palace

Next door to St. Mark’s Basilica (another main attraction of Venice), is the Doge’s Palace. It is arguably the second most important “attraction” in Venice after the basilica. A masterpiece of Gothic architecture.

5. Profess Eternal love at the Sotoportego dei Preti
Sotoportego dei Preti

Sotoportego dei Preti, a small passageway between two houses where a "magical heart" is carved just above the low arched entryway. If you are in a relationship, touch the heart together and your love will be eternal. If you are single touch the heart alone and you will find love within one year. So the legend says.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I look forward to talking about my next place of interest - Bora Bora in French Polynesia.
