Siem Reap is considered a part of “Hidden Asia”. Located in North-Western
Cambodia (South-East Asia), Siem Reap is known for its hidden treasures and
traditional Asian culture. Cambodia is often a forgotten country amongst many
other Asian destinations due to its low standard of living; however, this
provides any given traveller a unique experience.

The World Heritage listed Angkor Wat is definitely a place
to visit in Siem Reap. It is a series of temples that contains remains of the Khmer
civilisation. Many Cambodian locals travel daily to the temples to pray and
worship. Hollywood has also visited the site, with Tomb Raider filmed on the
premises.

A trip to the War Museum where there is a vast array of
vehicles, artillery, weaponry, landmines and equipment from the Pol Pot era is definitely
worth a visit. The museum gives a real insight to the political regime and
Cambodian life before, during and after the dictatorship.

The markets are another fascinating location to venture to
in Siem Reap. The markets provide a place for locals and tourists to purchase
from Cambodia’s two main industries, manufacturing and agriculture, and you are
sure to pick up a high quality produce or furniture at a great price.
